Here is a shoulder exercise that I have taught for years in yoga classes using yoga blocks.
With foam blocks it is very easy.
With cork blocks, a little less so.
With books, well…
I recently started teaching live yoga classes online and in yesterdays class when I wanted to teach this shoulder exercise I realized that most people aren’t going to have four blocks in their house so I made the mistake of telling people to go and grab books.
And then I made a bigger mistake by telling them to get big heavy books for a challenge.
It didn’t go so well.
I used the same books yesterday for this shoulder exercise but I wasn’t able to pull it off.
When I added the fourth book it slipped and fell about 30 seconds into the last round.
Oh well.
Enjoy the video.
The main work in the exercise is usually in pectoralis minor, a nasty little muscle that is responsible for a lot of our round shoulderedness.
