I grew up with Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert. I have some incredibly vivid and formative images of late night rock n roll still swimming around up there in my brain.
I just finished the Bolan/Bowie chapter on Yeah Yeah Yeah, the Bob Stanley book on pop music that I have been reading for what seems like eons.
T Rex is as good as it gets for a couple of albums. It is really intense to watch this video from 1974 compared to some from just two years earlier in 1972. Bolan put on a lot of weight and thickened but they still rocked.
