Someone posted this image of Alvin Ailey dancer Yannick Lebrun on facebook last week, and I have been looking at it every day since. I totally fetishize physical accomplishments like what we see in the picture. I find it mesmerizing.
And all I see is ease.
No one really needs to be that strong. That is a rarefied place occupied by a select few athletes. But we probably need to be half as strong or something like that. We can’t all be athletes but we can all make ourselves strong enough to get through life in a way that doesn’t involve the rapid degeneration of our bodies as we age.
