Moving Well and Aging Gracefully is not Guaranteed.

But... The More You know About How Your Body Works, the More Likely it is to Work Well.

  • If you're a teacher who wants to help their students move and heal more effectively.
  • If you suffer from chronic pain and doctors and physical therapists are not providing you answers.
  • If you want to get ahead of the aging curve and learn how your body works so you can make it work better.

Hi, I'm Jonathan FitzGordon, creator of CoreWalking & Psoas Release Party!. I have been teaching anatomy and helping people conquer complex pain issues for over ten years.

It is easier than you think to learn the workings of the amazing human body!

In my mid-thirties, my body broke down and I suffered a series of injuries that led to a number of surgeries.

Determined to recover and live an active life - and I will admit to having moments of doubt about that possibility - I went back to square one and learned how the body is meant to work and move.

I went on a search and eventually discovered the foundation of all my problems...

The Body Has An Instruction Manual that

Few People  Read

That’s right, I had to learn how the body was designed and then make use of that information.

And what a revelation this was!

FACT : It isn't all that hard to learn anatomy and use that knowledge to make  changes with immediate and long-term benefits.

The word “anatomy” comes from a Greek root that means “to cut apart.”

Human anatomy is the scientific study of the body’s structures.

The study of human anatomy provides an understanding of the structures of the body and how they work. This online course covers practical anatomy, including terminology, the organization of the body and the relationship of skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems.

The course also covers the detection and possible treatments of several physical disorders.

The CoreWalking Anatomy Program Won't Fix You

But it will teach you to fix yourself.

Exercise and bodywork of all kinds are important but they are not ends unto themselves. A trip to the chiropractor or massage therapist is wasted if you aren’t working with them to bring changes to your body.

Learning Anatomy Is A Means To Rebuild Yourself

I started doing yoga in the east village in the early 90's.  I knew nothing about my body but loved how this intense workout made me feel.

Honestly, in the beginning, I never felt better.

But two years into my practice my knees began to hurt.

I asked my ill-informed teacher and he told me, "It's a rite of passage", and then "You can work through it".

When I told him that I needed to have surgery, "Oh, I am sorry to hear that."

This is the scary reality for many people these days. We get injured and we put our trust in our teachers, doctors and physical therapists.

It took a while (three surgeries!)  but it finally dawned on me that I could be the engine of my healing. I could learn why I got injured and how to heal myself... with the help of trained professionals that I could now partner with, rather than blindly depend on.

Along with my own injuries, I started to learn anatomy to incorporate into my classes and to help others.

I felt at a loss when students would ask me about pain issues they were having and I wanted to have answers more than "I'm not sure. Modify the pose."

What would it mean to you to understand the workings of your body? Or to help others understand as well?  And use this understanding to help yourself and other solve issues that have troubled them for longer than they would care to admit?

Anatomy Lesson # 1

Did You Know There Is A Walking Muscle?

If you know anything about me, you know I am obsessed with the psoas muscle.

If you don't know anything about me, you might be wondering what is the psoas?

Well...Deep in the core of the body lies the psoas major— a bridge between the legs and the spine— and the body’s most important muscle for three reasons.

  • The psoas is the muscle of walking.
Every successful step you take is initiated by the psoas which facilitates a self healing pattern of movement. If you don't walk well you don't use the psoas to take advantage of this amazing design.
  • The psoas is the muscle of standing.
We are the only creatures that stand truly upright. We stand upright because of the lumbar curve which is created by the psoas when we begin to sit, crawl and stand. The psoas, connecting the legs to the spine at the front of the body, helps to hold the spine upright.
  • The psoas is the muscle of pain and trauma.
Fear is flexion and as the body's main hip flexor the psoas is involved with all actions involving our fear response. When the brain and nervous system is confronted with an activity or energy it can't process in the moment, that energy is stored in the psoas and can lead to myriad forms of dysfunction and pain.

What People Are Saying:

Marty Lyman

I came across the BodyMind webinar while recovering from back surgery and because walking was the only activity I was allowed to do, I signed on and was immediately smitten with Jonathan FitzGordon’s style of presentation, open-mindedness to both anecdotal and scientific data, diagrams of anatomy not usually found in anatomy books, or Yoga books, both current and past. I have included into my yoga therapy routine exercises presented in these webinars workshops and have participated in the yoga classes offered, mostly for Jonathan’s sharp critique to keep me from overextending myself during my recovery.

Rebecca Pellerin

I especially love the unique take that Jonathan presents in the training and I love the energy he brings. He’s got a ton of information and an enthusiastic approach to the human body. I highly recommend his training to anyone who is interested in teaching yoga, working with clients in any kind of pain management or therapy, as well as anyone looking to improve their own quality of life. It has changed my own life significantly; my posture, my strength, the way I view myself and my understanding of my body and how I move in this world.

Rhonda Keyser

Jonathan FitzGordon turned my yoga life around. Jonathan was instrumental in guiding me through an understanding of my injuries and giving me the vocabulary of movement and an experiential understanding of my body's anatomy and its tendencies. Through Jonathan's classes, I've been able to heal my injuries and change my pattern of movement so I don't keep re-injuring myself.

Tania Peull

Jonathan is the absolute best yoga teacher ever. His passion for all things anatomical translates into creative sessions for his students - engaging, beneficial and fun fun fun! His mind is like a sponge ingesting every scrap of new information and repurposing it for his and his students' practice. His teaching thus is ever growing, his lessons never stagnant. sharing his enthusiasm for everything this world has to offer he teaches so much more than correct posture or how to never get incontinent or how best to hold your one-handed handstand--he teaches enjoyment of life. I couldn't recommend anybody any more highly for anything than I recommend Jonathan for everything he wishes to pursue.

What people are saying about CoreWalking

Maya Ray

Your walking lessons are probably one of the best things I've ever done. I wish I could clone you and have all my clients work with you.

Katina Paron

I bought the CoreWalking program about three years ago and I am still noticing a difference in my feet. Before when I took walks I would notice that my IT band would be really tight, my hips would be achy, but now I can walk to the store and walk around the park and feel better not worse.

Florence Hillary

I just want to say that I am still amazed at how well the walking program has helped relieve pain that I have had for a number of years. I’ve tried chiropractors, acupuncturists, massage therapists and I still had pain. And something as simple as learning how to walk again, aligning myself in a new way has changed my life.

Following three knee surgeries in my thirties I took a step back to see why I kept repeating the same injuries over and over again.

When someone asked me what I was doing to prevent a fourth surgery my life's work presented itself.  First I got healthy myself and now I am translating that for others.

A Testimonial from Cynthia Garner

I have had dull low back pain for most of my life.  But after bearing children, this pain became sharp and intolerable.  Eventually, it started to impact my health, by limiting the physical activities I could do.  Having, of course, previously been to doctors, chiropractors, physical therapists, posture specialists, and massage therapists, with no results, I turned to the internet.  I bought many books, some of them happened to be books written by Jonathan Fitzgordon.  After reading all of his books which taught me to make one simple self adjustment to the posture of my hips during my daily activities, my low back pain was GONE.  Literally, after 10 minutes!  Still lingering, however, was mild neck pain.  I knew there was more for me to know.  So, I signed up for the Corewalking program.  The neck issues are definitely more complicated for me to fix.  But with private sessions online, Jonathan is able to look at my posture and movements and give me specific exercises and tips to help my issues.  Jonathan has a rare gift.  He has the knowledge of what is going wrong with a large majority of the population's posture.  And, here comes the rocket science part....he knows how to communicate to you what you need to do to move properly and how to give you the sense of feeling when you are moving properly.  Of all the money I have spent on doctors and such, the amount of money and time spent on Corewalking was minimal but yielded me the best results!  One year ago, my life consisted of back pain, migraines, numbness and tingling in my limbs, vertigo, and limited exercise, which was kind of scary to me.  Now, I have NONE of those symptoms.  And, I can exercise to my heart's content, which makes me very happy.  Thank you to Jonathan!  I highly recommend him to anyone and everyone.
