I don’t know if it was Jung or Faulkner, or maybe neither… but someone said that an adult man’s journey is a search for his childhood. I feel like I didn’t have to look too far. I still act and behave like a sixteen year old. I work in bare feet and pajamas and had children late which is sure to keep one young; especially if you feel the need to connect with Justin Bieber and Katy Perry.
Growing up I had a distant father and an aggressive to the point of monstrous brother but we all bonded over sports, especially hockey. I was never a particularly good athlete but even now skating in the park and stick handling takes me back to a time when I just didn’t care about anything but the fun at hand.
The Fitter First Balance Board is an excellent tool for developing balance and building gentle core tone. I use it a few times a week and lately have been using it as a warm up for core work, especially jathara parivartanasana. Adding the hockey stick to the balance component only makes it more effective.
