Sunday Morning Music: Julian Cope

Very few musicians have maintained my hero worship over decades. Julian cope is one of them even though he has been on a heavy metal trip of late that I can’t join him on. Between 1980 and 1996 Julian, with The Teardrop Explodes and then solo, made some of the most consistently great music. Fifteen great records during that period all hold up for me.

I had the great pleasure of meeting Julian a number of times and he was always the warmest most gracious host. I feel very lucky to have met him and get to know him a little. It is truly wonderful when your hero’s turn out to be good people.

The first video is just so Julian that I had to include it. The second is a recent recording of one of my favorite songs.
