Sunday Morning Music: Madonna and my Children

I am a big Madonna fan despite myself.  I saw Madonna in 1990 on the Blonde Ambition tour at the Meadowlands in New Jersey (the video above is from that tour). I had great seats, which always helps, but that aside it remains one of the best shows I have ever seen. It was twisted and subversive and she was the hardest working women in show business.

I feel for artists of all stripes who shine in their twenties and thirties. It seems very hard to sustain a long career in the music business,or any creative art, and keep producing quality product. There are very few Leonard Cohen’s out there.

My daughter Ida is now into Madonna, as well as a number of other new pretenders. Check out her version of like a prayer with a little help from my son Reggie. I have to say that since I am being forced to listen to all of the newer artists I give it the old college try and Madge seems to have them all beat when it comes to getting it right and doing it well.

Have a great Sunday!
