I’m old. They’re old. In 1990 this was my favorite song for about six months. I couldn’t stop playing it—over and over again. Redd Kross formed in 1980 when singer/songwriter Jeff McDonald was seventeen and younger brother Steven. The story goes that Steven was pulled out of 8th grade class to be told the Red Cross didn’t appreciate the bands use of their name and they would have to change it.
I just love pop songs. The band returned to some heavier roots after Third Eye and became more successful but this record still remains near to my heart. They broke up for a long while and returned for a bunch of reunion shows including the one in the video below from Southpaw in Brooklyn that I attended. Have a fun Sunday.
