So The Replacements (sort of) reunited with three shows this summer at Riot Fest, and I imagine the lure of the lucre will see them touring soon enough. And I imagine I will go because why not, though I have had little use for the career of Paul Westerberg since they broke up.
That said, as I mentioned in the post earlier in the week about attempting to learn to play guitar, I had a moment about twenty years ago when I wrote song lyrics for a spell. Paul Westerberg’s lyrics were a major source of inspiration for what I was trying to do—along with Miles Hunt, Joni Mitchell and Scott McCaughey, to name a few.
As clichéd as it is, songs and songwriters have bolstered my spirits since forever and I can’t imagine that healing power will ever wane.
